Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of PetSync (“PetSync”, “we”, “us”). They apply when you use the PetSync app or this website.

By using PetSync, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use PetSync.

PetSync is free to use. There are no ads, no subscription, and no limits on how many pets or people a household can have.

If we ever add something that costs money, we will say so clearly before you pay, and nothing will be charged without your agreement through Apple.

If you paid for something in an older version of the app, see Older versions of the app.

• You must be at least 13 years old to use PetSync. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to these terms, you need to be that age, or have a parent or guardian agree to them for you.
• You can sign in with Apple, or with an email address and password. Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your sign-in details secure.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is using it, tell us right away.

PetSync is built around a shared household, so please read this part carefully.

• Anyone with your invite code can join your household. Once they join, they can see its pets, their photos, and the full feeding and medication log, including who logged each entry and when. Share the code only with people you trust.
• Everyone in a household can add, edit and delete its pets and entries. Before inviting someone, make sure you are comfortable with that.
• The household owner can remove members in the Household tab. Anyone can join a different household at any time, and members can leave theirs.
• You are responsible for who you invite, and for making sure the people in your household are happy to share their names and entries with each other. We are not responsible for what household members do with what they can see or change.

You own what you add to PetSync, such as pet profiles, photos, notes and log entries.

To run PetSync, we need your permission to store, copy, process and display that content, and to show it to the members of your household, including in notifications. You give us that permission, worldwide and free of charge, only for the purpose of providing PetSync. It ends when the content is deleted, except for content that stays in a household you shared it with, and copies in backups until those backups expire.

Only add content you have the right to share, and please don’t add other people’s personal information unless it is needed for your pets’ care.

Use PetSync lawfully and with respect for others. You agree not to:

• break any law, or use PetSync to harm people or animals,
• upload content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or violent, or that you do not have the right to share,
• join or access a household, account or data that is not yours, or try to get around our security or access rules,
• probe, scan, overload or disrupt PetSync or the systems it runs on,
• copy, modify, reverse engineer or decompile the app, except where the law allows it,
• use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access PetSync,
• pretend to be someone else, or give false information when you sign up,
• sell, rent or resell access to PetSync.

PetSync helps a household keep track of meals and medications. It is not a veterinary service, and it does not give medical advice.

• Nothing in PetSync is a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Follow your vet’s instructions for food, medications and doses, and check with your vet before changing them.
• Reminders and notifications can arrive late or not at all, for example when a phone has no internet connection, notifications are turned off, a Focus mode is on, or Apple’s notification service has a problem.
• The log is only as good as what people enter. A heads-up that nothing was logged does not mean a pet was not fed, and a logged meal does not prove a pet ate.
• Do not rely on PetSync as the only way to make sure a pet is fed or gets its medication.

If you think a pet is unwell or in danger, contact a veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic right away.

We work to keep PetSync running well, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.

• We may change, add or remove features at any time.
• PetSync may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or problems outside our control.
• If we decide to shut PetSync down, we will give reasonable notice in the app or by email where we can, so you have time to ask for a copy of your data.
• Keep your own copy of anything important, such as medication instructions from your vet.

PetSync, including the app, this website, the name, the logo and the design, belongs to us and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as these terms and Apple’s Usage Rules allow. This right ends when these terms stop applying to you.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.

You get PetSync from Apple’s App Store, so these points also apply:

• These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for PetSync or its content.
• Your use of the app must also follow the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for PetSync.
• If PetSync fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund the price you paid for the app, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for PetSync.
• Apple is not responsible for handling any claims about PetSync, such as product liability claims, claims that the app does not meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property. Those are our responsibility, as far as these terms provide.
• You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and Apple may enforce them against you.

PetSync is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties about it, express or implied. That includes any promise that PetSync will always be available, free of errors or secure, that it will suit a particular purpose, or that data will never be lost.

To the fullest extent the law allows:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost profits or lost goodwill.
• We are not liable for harm that results from relying on PetSync, including missed, late or wrong reminders and notifications, incomplete or incorrect entries, or information that is lost or unavailable.
• We are not liable for what other members of your household do, including the entries they add, change or delete.
• Our total liability for all claims about PetSync is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for PetSync in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you use PetSync as a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you.

You can stop using PetSync at any time. To delete your account, open the Household tab in the app, tap Manage Account, then Delete Account. Our Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other people, their pets, or PetSync. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and explain why.

The parts of these terms that are meant to continue after your account ends still apply, including the sections on your content, no warranties, and limitation of liability.

Versions of PetSync before 2.2 offered an optional subscription, billed and managed by Apple. PetSync 2.2 and later have no subscription.

If you still have one, you manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your PetSync account does not cancel it. Apple handles refunds under its own policies.

We may update these terms as PetSync changes. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top. For important changes, we will also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using PetSync after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree with them, stop using PetSync and delete your account.

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about PetSync. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
