PetSync ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us:

• Account information (email address, display name)
• Pet profiles (names, species, photos)
• Feeding and care logs
• Household membership data
• Device tokens for push notifications

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain our service
• To sync pet care data across household members
• To send push notifications about pet care activities
• To improve and personalize your experience
• To communicate with you about updates and support

AI Health Assistant (Buddy)

PetSync Pro includes an AI-powered health assistant called "Buddy" that provides general pet care guidance. Here's how it works:

• AI Provider: We use OpenAI's API to power Buddy. Your conversations are processed by OpenAI's servers.
• Data Sent to AI: When you use Buddy, we send your pet's profile information (name, species, breed, age), recent feeding history, current medications, vet records, and your questions/messages to generate personalized responses.
• Conversation Storage: Conversations with Buddy are stored locally on your device during your session. We do not permanently store your AI conversations on our servers.
• Important Disclaimer: AI-generated guidance is for informational purposes only and is NOT a substitute for professional veterinary care. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for health concerns, diagnoses, or treatment decisions.

Pet Health Reports

PetSync Pro allows you to generate shareable PDF health reports containing your pet's profile, feeding history, medications, and vet records. These reports are designed to be shared with veterinarians or caregivers. You control when and with whom you share these reports. We do not automatically share your pet's information with any third parties.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our app:

• Supabase - For data storage, authentication, and real-time sync. Your data is stored securely with encryption at rest and in transit.
• RevenueCat - For subscription management. RevenueCat processes payment data through the Apple App Store. We do not store your payment card details.
• OpenAI - For AI health assistant features (Pro subscribers only). Pet profile data and your questions are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. See OpenAI's privacy policy for their data handling practices.
• Expo - For push notification delivery. We collect device tokens to send you notifications about pet care activities.

Push Notifications

With your permission, we collect device tokens to send push notifications about feeding reminders, medication schedules, and household activity. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

Analytics & Tracking

We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers. We do not track your activity outside of our app.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your pet care data is only shared with members of your household who you explicitly invite via invite code.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete such information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Update your display name at any time in Settings
• Delete your account and all associated data directly from Settings. Account deletion is permanent and will be completed within 30 days. This removes all your pets, feeding logs, medications, vet records, and household data.
• Export your data (via PDF health reports)
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Opt out of push notifications through your device settings

California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal basis for processing is your consent and legitimate interests in providing the service.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
